They might be our new favourite accessory to match with our eyewear, but face masks are giving us the undesired look of steamed up glasses! As face coverings are now mandatory in many places and breathing is, well...essential, lens fogging is a new challenge for us glasses wearers. This being said, we’ve compiled some top tips on how to reduce this as much as possible.
1. Get a mask which is a perfect fit!
The ideal mask to avoid fogging is one which fits as snuggly as possible at the top. Look for a mask with wire at the top which can be adjusted to the shape of your nose. The better the fit at the top of the mask, the less air will escape under your glasses. Leaving your mask a little loose at the sides or bottom will allow the hot air to escape away from your lenses.
2. Tuck a tissue inside your mask
You can fold a tissue up and tuck this into the top of your mask. This will absorb any moisture from your breath and catch it before it reaches your lenses!
3. Sit your glasses on the mask/ further down your nose
Wear your glasses with the rims sitting over the frames rather than tucked in to the mask. The glasses being a little further down your nose when you wear them will also keep them away from the moist breaths.
4. Anti-fog Spray
Specially formulated lens sprays are also an option to prevent fogging. We don't sell these at IOLLA but if you search online you should find many options to choose from.
